R4 DS Card - Put There Retro NES Games On Your Nintendo 3DS

Play There 2 Amazing NES Games On Your R4 DS Card For DSi

Emulators and emulation in general is very good. Actually, I would dare say it is great. Having the opportunity to play a lot of the old classic games from consoles of yesterday with the help of some software is really something. This way you can try out some games that a lot of us old school gamers have been raving about, as well as get a great insight into how much fun a lot of these old games really were, and how they influenced todays games.

Just how can your Nintendo DS or Nintendo 3DS play old classic games through an emalator?  After all, it's not like the have an emulator card.  But what  you can get is something called the r4 DS Card, or R4 3DS Card for the Nintendo 3DS, which will allow you to load and store these emulators and then copy over the games you want to play. These games, naturally, are not the most complex when it comes to graphics, but what they don't have in graphics they make up for with amazing gameplay that is second to none.

Many of the games we play today, started out in one form or another, on the NES console. Published and released by the same company, but back when they were working with bits and bytes, and not gigs of space to bring their games to life. So for those of you who may have just entered into the classic gaming world, here are a couple of NES games I suggest you try right away.

A side scrolling platform game - that let the whole screen move around - that's what Bionic commando was. While many platform games of the day only scrolled from left to right, Bionic Commando actually had you using your grappling hooks to jump  up onto platforms, and move up on the screen as well.  The game was easy to pick up and play - and often people thought it would be an easy game to beat - but they soon learned that was not the case.    This one little feature set this game apart from a number of others of the day. Just how popular was the game?  Popular enough to have remakes made for both the PS3 and the Xbox 360, with more to follow I am sure.

1. Bubble Bobble

This was the game that starred Bub And Bob - familiar characters now in games like Puzzle Bobble, and Bubble Pop.  But this was where it all started. The point was that one each of the hundred screens / levels, you could join up with a friend and play together to collect all the jewels and gems, and blow bubbles at the bad guys, which you would have to burst, in order to turn them into a banana jewel, or apple crystal etc... While the new version of this game is different, the original was the most fun I ever had - a puzzle and strategy element was needed to be able to play this game. Easy to pick up and play, even if you only had 10 or 15 minutes of game time. It's also been remade on various other systems, obviously because the game is a lot of fun to play.

1. R-Type

The game that set the stage for shoot em up games. This side scrolling arcade game was converted to almost every single game system and computer system of the day. And for good reason. It was a game that almost everyone wanted to play - at home. Not that the home version was any easier than the arcade versions, but it didn't cost you a quarter every 10 minutes or so just to be able to continue your gaming. A game that was truly filled with lost of fun and excitement - and a whole slew of good frustrations too.}

Gyruss was very popular in the arcades.  A huge successful game that while was a standard shoot em up style game, it was different. There's so much to be said about this game - and much of it has been said already.  Much like R-type, this game goes down in my game history books. It was different though than your regular side scrolling shoot em up games in that you had almost a 3D game going on. Your enemy ships would come from all side of screen and your ship could fly all round the edges of the screen to thwart the bad guys' approach. Your mission in the game? To go and protect every single planet in our galaxy. It's hard to describe this game - you really do have to play it to understand what I am trying to say - but be careful - you'll be hooked!

2. Ghostbusters 2

Ghostbusters for the NES was a great game, lots of fun to play.  And in 1990 the sequel was released for the NES console, and thank god it was. Ghostbusters 2 left off where the first game finished, and added a whole slew of new elements to the franchise. It was a mix between platform and puzzle game. What you noticed right away were the improved graphics.  The first game had decent graphics, considering when it was released - but there was a big improvement in this sequel. What more can I really say about this game.  Practically every knows The Ghostbusters - young and old.  And Ghostbusters 2 for the NES gives you a chance to get your game on as the original ghost hunters.}

At the start of this article I had said that you can play these games on your Nintendo DS, DSi and even the new Nintendo 3DS systems, and you may be wondering how that could be. All you need is your hand held system of choice of course.  The DS lite, DSi or Nintendo 3DS and either an R4 DS Card or 3DS R4 Card for the 3DS system. The DS does well with this, due to the resolution of the original games, they look just as good, if not sometimes better than they would have looked on your big TV back when it was first released.

Pixar's unprecedented string of hit animated features was built on the short films in this collection.
